Principal, Academic Architecture

The role of the Principal, Academic Architecture, is to oversee and lead the academic discipline at SGA, a national, award winning architecture and interior design practice. The Principal position is responsible for revitalizing, developing and nurturing an entire department focused on delivering academic sector facilities including student life, visual and performing arts, academic learning facilities, residential and food services, and administrative facilities. Principals at SGA typically have a well-positioned presence in the market with an ability to impact both the real estate market as well as SGA firm culture.

Senior Project Architect

This role is responsible for assuring that individual project elements and tasks are successfully explored and, for smaller projects where a Project Architect is unassigned, that the responsibilities as outlined for the Project Architect are fulfilled.  Working with the Project Architect or Project Manager, he/she is expected to take ownership in the comprehensive study and documentation of the project during its development, and add to the office objectives of enhanced communication, heightened design capability and improved document execution.

Senior Project Manager

The Senior Project Manager is responsible for communicating and ensuring all client and project goals are achieved within the parameters and in coordination with the project budget, the professional service fees and the schedule. The Senior Project Manager works directly with the Principals and Business Development department to develop proposals in response to RFP’s; establishes the scope of services, proposed fees, and projected schedules for Principal review and the performance of work.

Senior Designer

This role is responsible for developing the approach and goals for the design of the project. Balancing his/her responsibilities for both the communication of and management of design tasks, the Designer ultimately assumes the lead role in defining a project’s opportunities and analyzing various ideas as well as collaborating on their successful implementation. Working with the Project Manager, the Designer is responsible for assuring that all projects to which he/she is assigned fulfill the design and performance objectives as established at project start-up as well as sharing the responsibility for adhering to the project schedule and budget.

Project Manager

The Project Manager is responsible for communicating and ensuring all client and project goals are achieved within the parameters and in coordination with the project budget, the professional service fees and the schedule. The Project Manager works directly with the Principals and Business Development department to develop proposals in response to RFP’s; establishes the scope of services, proposed fees and projected schedules for Principal review and the performance of work.

Project Architect

Designer Level 3

The Architecture Designer assists senior designers and helps direct junior designers with all facets of the design process from conceptual design through construction administration, including development of design solutions, research and finish/lighting/furniture specification and drawing production. Responsible for assuring office-wide objectives of enhanced design expertise and client service are successfully applied to every project to which he/she is assigned – from the earliest concept study through construction administration. Working with senior staff, the Architecture Designer is expected to articulate the project design as defined during the earliest phases by the project designer and/or project leadership, and to maintain an enhanced level of commitment to the success of the project throughout its development and implementation.

Designer Level 1

The Architecture Designer assists senior designers with all facets of the design process from conceptual design through construction administration, including development of design solutions, research and finish/lighting/furniture specification and drawing production.

Junior Designer

The Junior Designer assists senior designers with all facets of the design process from conceptual design through construction administration, including the development of design solutions, research and finish/lighting/furniture specification and drawing production. Responsible for assuring office-wide objectives of enhanced design expertise and client service are successfully applied to every project to which he/she is assigned – from the earliest concept study through construction administration.

Architecture Intern

The Architecture Intern position consists primarily of assisting the Architecture Department, but may also involve tasks assisting the Interiors Department, the Virtual Design & Construction Department, or office operating and Administrative functions as needed. This potential diversity of tasks is seen as beneficial in order to help expose Interns to the many facets of a design professional's practice.

Interior Design

Senior Interior Designer

The role of the Senior Interior Designer is to lead and implement all facets of the design process from conceptual design through construction administration, including development of design solutions, research, finish/lighting/furniture specification and drawing production. Responsible for assuring office-wide objectives of enhanced design expertise and client service are successfully applied to every project to which he/she is assigned – from the earliest concept study through construction administration. 

Project Manager

The Project Manager is responsible for communicating and ensuring all client and project goals are achieved within the project parameters and in coordination with the project budget, the professional service fees, and the schedule. Ability to direct staff, oversee project teams and manage multiple projects of all sizes and complexity. Responsible for assuring office-wide objectives of enhanced design expertise and client service are successfully applied to every project to which he/she is assigned – from the earliest concept study through construction administration.

Science + Technology

Project Manager
