Who We Are

Scott Barnholt, AIA

Director, Architecture | Senior Associate

Scott has a multidisciplinary background that encompasses both architecture and urban planning. He originally moved to New York to pursue a graduate degree in planning, and subsequently served as a project manager at the New York City Economic Development Corporation for three years. Collaborations with architects in this role prompted him to return to school to pursue a career in architecture. Upon graduation, Scott worked on a broad range of projects at firms including Arquitectonica, SOM, and WRNS before he joined SGA in 2018.

At SGA, Scott focuses on design and documentation for commercial, mixed-use, and life sciences commissions. He thrives on creative thinking and problem-solving, especially in relation to the development of concepts that work within a site’s constraints.

A registered architect, Scott holds a Bachelor of Science in environmental design from the University of Colorado, and a Master of Architecture and a Master of Urban Planning from Columbia University. Outside of the office, he enjoys traveling abroad and also exploring neighborhoods closer to his family’s home in Brooklyn.
