Industry Veteran to Lead Firm’s New York Architectural Department
NEW YORK, NY — May 1, 2025 — SGA, a leader in architecture, interior design, planning, and virtual design and construction (VDC), is pleased to announce the appointment of Reza Rahimpour, AIA, LEED AP, as Principal. With two decades of architectural experience shaped by New York City’s dynamic urban fabric, Rahimpour will lead the firm’s New York Architectural Department. His expertise spans the multifamily, commercial, and adaptive reuse sectors, with a portfolio that includes some of the region’s most complex and iconic architectural commissions.
“Reza is a respected design leader whose career spans the globe, and we’re thrilled to welcome him to SGA,” said Adam Spagnolo, CEO and Partner at SGA. “His arrival reinforces our commitment to shaping the future of the built environment through thoughtful, contextual design and a client-focused approach. Reza’s deep expertise in navigating New York City’s complex regulatory environment, combined with his proven leadership and dedication to client success, will be instrumental in advancing the continued growth of our New York office.”
Before joining SGA, Rahimpour served as a principal at Perkins Eastman, S9, and OBMI. He has played a pivotal role in various projects, including the high-end 77 Charlton residences for Toll Brothers in Manhattan, the skyline-defining Vantage residential tower in Jersey City, the adaptive reuse of Brooklyn’s Empire Stores for Madison Equities, and the next-generation office building Dock 72 at the Brooklyn Navy Yard. A strong advocate for digital transformation in architecture, Rahimpour co-founded the BIM team at Perkins Eastman’s Studio 9. A registered architect in the state of New York, Rahimpour earned a master’s in architecture from the University of Tehran.
In his new role as Principal, Rahimpour will lead with a client-focused mindset that leverages his cross-sector perspective to enrich every phase of the design process. With an approach deeply influenced by New York’s evolving urban fabric, Rahimpour’s specialized knowledge of multifamily housing enables him to balance design aspiration with functionality, constructability, and market viability. He will play a central role in guiding design strategy, strengthening client relationships, mentoring teams across the firm, and ensuring clarity to developers and project teams from concept to completion.

Dyer Wharf’s phase one includes a 190,000-square-foot, 12-story residential building offering 214 market-rate units
PROVIDENCE — April 16, 2025 — SGA, a leader in architecture, interior design, planning, virtual design and construction (VDC), and branded environments, has announced that Dyer Wharf has received final entitlement by the Downtown Design Review Committee (DDRC). This critical approval for the first phase of the highly anticipated Dyer Wharf project marks a significant milestone in the revitalization of Providence’s riverfront.
Located in the 195 District, Dyer Wharf’s phase one includes a 12-story residential building offering 214 market-rate units and amenities including a communal lounge, kitchen, fitness center, and co-working area. The 190,000-square-foot building will launch the new development, bringing vibrancy to Providence with its striking form, modern brick façade, and engaging ground level architecture. Ground floor retail, intended to be a restaurant use, anchors the southern end of the building with outdoor dining that will overlook the District Park. The eastern side, which borders the riverwalk, will feature ground-floor amenity space for the residents that engages with the vibrant waterfront area.
“This project represents a bold vision for urban revitalization in Providence, integrating high-quality residential living while significantly improving the public realm along the riverfront,” said Brian Slozak, AIA, Principal at SGA. “Dyer Wharf will continue the great momentum of the 195 District and serve as a catalyst for mixed-use development that prioritizes connectivity, resiliency, and the local community’s needs”
Dyer Wharf will feature the 195 District’s first resiliency platform that raises the first floor elevation and provides integrated landscape elements that softens the public realm, designed in collaboration with Copley Wolff. This initiative aims to connect the community to Dyer Street, enhancing the pedestrian experience along the city’s riverfront and the I-195 District Park. The master plan builds on the significant growth in the area’s academic, research, workplace, and residential developments, further establishing the region as a hub of innovation. The plan has the potential to incorporate over 500,000 square feet of total development, with later phases proposed to include Class A life science, research and development, and academic space.
The Dyer Wharf project is expected to span approximately 26 months, with completion anticipated by the end of 2027.

The year 2025 marks a turning point in workplace design. No longer centered around aesthetics, corporate offices are now embodying spaces that prioritize employee well-being, sustainability, and adaptability. At SGA, we’re at the forefront of these innovations, creating spaces that not only serve the present but anticipate future needs. Here are the top four trends we see shaping commercial design in the year ahead:
1. Wellness-First Design: Spaces That Support People and Productivity
Wellness has become a cornerstone of workplace design, moving beyond “nice-to-have” to an essential focus for companies striving to retain and empower their workforce. Today’s workforce demands environments that actively support mental and physical health. In 2025, spaces that balance human-centric design with business performance will be essential components of a thriving, future-ready workplace and set the tone for a new era of workplace culture.
What this looks like in practice:
Designed by SGA, the “amoeba-inspired” nooks within Parcel P are particularly notable for their adaptability, providing a range of zones for quiet contemplation or group engagement.
2. Gaining In-Office Favorability: Amenities! Amenities! Amenities!
Office perks are now seen as integral to creating a positive work environment that supports job functionality and overall employee satisfaction. We’re seeing a surge in demand for sports simulators, wellness rooms, fitness centers, and outdoor exercise areas. These spaces not only enhance employee satisfaction but also boost productivity and reduce turnover.
SGA’s renovation features a state-of-the-art fitness and wellness hub with spa-inspired locker rooms and an outdoor exercise area, reflecting the growing demand from owners for spaces that promote a balanced, active lifestyle for tenants.
3. Biophilic Design: Bringing the Outdoors In
Biophilic design has been gaining momentum for years and will continue to evolve in 2025. This design practice recognizes the inherent human connection to nature and seeks to integrate natural elements and processes into indoor environments.
Key biophilic elements we’re embracing:
This striking multi-story moss lobby wall extends into the gym, serving as a biophilic focal point that underscores themes of wellness and sustainability.
4. Flexible Work Zones
Today’s workforce is diverse, with varying work styles and preferences. With hybrid work and varied schedules becoming the norm, multi-purpose spaces and dynamic work zones cater to this by offering a range of settings – from open collaboration areas to private focus booths.
What flexibility looks like in 2025:
Looking Ahead
The future of design lies in creating spaces that not only adapt to the changing world but actively contribute to a better one. By embracing trends like wellness-focused spaces, biophilic design, flexibility, and impactful amenities, we can create buildings that respond to change while driving a more sustainable and positive future.
Distinct work zones have been designed with customizability in mind to better accommodate individual and group preferences where occupants can control their spatial experience.
