Considered to be one of the most sustainably designed and engineered office buildings in New England, the new MathWorks headquarters exceeds Massachusetts stretch code requirements for energy consumption and features progressive envelope design, triple glazed windows, individual temperature controls, daylight sensors, chilled beam technology, and on-site co-generation facilities to convert the byproduct of heavy cooling demands of the new data center into on-site energy. Other on-site energy technologies are PV arrays, LED lighting, and electric vehicle charging stations.

The building functions include a blend of
chemistry and biology lab/offices as well
as an expanded ground floor vivarium. A
multi-story “atrium” space serves as the
link between the South Building and the
vertical expansion on the North Building.
A new main entrance was created on the
second floor level and the old lower level
entrance driveway was converted into an
outdoor courtyard for employees.

Each wing of the project is designed to function as a separate “stand-alone building” while maintaining a connection to the main lobby and amenity center.

SG&A has created a new Communispace workplace for approximately 600 people on two floors in Atlantic Wharf at 290 Congress Street in Boston. Communispace’s work environment is open, energetic and collaborative. There are no hard walled offices and all employees, including senior management, sit in open workstations.

axis communications
As the world’s leading expert in network video, Axis Communications’ new US headquarters is comprised of two primary space types: an open, collaborative office zone for their internal team and an executive business center for visitors and clients. Collaborative “fire side chat” zones pop with sculptural lighting and bright furnishings while accent paint on carpet tiles become a life size measurement device for testing equipment. The concepts of surveillance and exposure are carried throughout the space through key elements such as built-in security cameras, product installations and full height orange glass panels that slice through walls, exposing activity beyond.

wentworth institute of technology, flanagan campus center at beatty hall
The Flanagan Campus Center at Beatty Hall includes the construction of approximately 12,000 gsf of new building space in order to expand and renovate the dining commons, kitchen and servery as well as renovate approximately 40,000 gsf for the radio station, fitness center, bookstore and student activities offices. A new main entrance to the building provides a new interior lobby and enhanced access to the first three floors of the facility.

sacred heart university, edgerton performing arts center
While modest in size, this 2,100 sf, addition and 3,200 sf renovation revitalizes Sacred Heart University’s main campus entrance and provides pre- and post-performance amenities to every guest. SGA’s design boasts 20 foot lofted ceilings, clerestory windows, open glazing, free flowing reception area and intimate seating areas. A new art gallery, café, box office and reception area along with a dramatic courtyard and outdoor digital media screen has something for visitors and students alike.
