Swati loves conceptual design when seeds of ideas are planted and imagination is translated into drawings. She also thrives on the collaboration with other team members as they work to put all the initial pieces of the puzzle together.
In her role at SGA, which she joined in February of 2021, Swati creates schematic drawings, prepares presentations for client and internal meetings, and develops construction documents. Her projects span both the commercial and life sciences sectors. Regardless of the building type, Swati strives to design environmentally friendly, sustainable spaces that reduce carbon footprints and improve productivity.
Previously, Swati served as an architectural designer at Perkins & Will, where she honed her skills in the life sciences and the commercial arenas. Her experience there also enhanced her interest in environmental sustainability — one of the firm’s emphases. Earlier, she worked at a firm in India that specializes in hotels and malls.
Swati earned a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Visvesvaraya Technological University in Bangalore. Outside of the office, she enjoys cooking and baking, and describes her kitchen as her “happy place.” Popular output includes birthday cakes, cupcakes, pies, and breads. She and her husband, daughter, and son have lived in Paris and Vancouver, but they’re now happily settled in Boston.
