A licensed architect with more than two decades of experience, Shawn admired SGA long before he joined the team. He recalls being especially impressed by two structures designed by the firm at The Mathworks in Natick, MA, where he was living at the time. When an opportunity arose for him to join SGA, Shawn grabbed it, and a productive 14-year tenure began.
Today, Shawn still appreciates the caliber of SGA’s portfolio and is delighted to play a role in expanding it. He works on a variety of projects, typically developing construction documents and delving into details to ensure that designs are buildable and that they meet both envelope requirements and sustainability targets. He also collaborates closely with consulting engineers in the planning and design of building systems and throughout the construction process.
Previously, Shawn served as a designer at LPBA Architects in Boston, where he focused on core and shell and historic restoration projects in the public, residential, and education markets. He has also held positions on design teams at MIT and at the Hillier Group in Scranton, PA.
Shawn received a Bachelor of Architecture from Boston Architectural College and an Associate of Architecture Science from Johnson College in Scranton, PA. Outside of the office, he is active in his parish church and serves as a cub scout leader. His two sons are cub scouts, his daughter is a girl scout, and Shawn himself is an eagle scout. Another favorite activity involves obstacle racing, which he does with his brother. This year, Shawn hopes to accomplish a “Spartan Trifecta,” which encompasses a set of three tough courses — a Sprint, a Super and a Beast.
