Who We Are

Sean Lydon

Sustainability Analyst

Sean plays an important role in developing SGA’s sustainability strategies for the design of new buildings, including offices, laboratories, and residential facilities. He typically begins by performing an “envelope backstop” calculation for each project.  This process involves the use of Revit to document the surface area and thermal parameters of a building’s exterior and compare them to baseline values set by energy codes. He also develops whole-building energy models for the proposed designs to estimate performance, and counsels clients on the pursuit and attainment of LEED certifications and other environmental standards.

Before joining SGA, Sean interned at Clockwork Analytics in Somerville, where he focused on energy commissioning. There he analyzed HVAC data using cloud-based software and provided recommendations to clients on improving performance.

Sean earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, with a minor in psychology, from Northeastern University.  In his spare time, he plays card, board, and video games, most of which could be categorized as action/adventure. He also practices the electric guitar, which he started learning during the pandemic.  His goal is to make enough progress to be able to compose his own music and share it with friends.
