Over the course of his career, which spans 35 years, Luis has successfully combined his passion for creative design with technical expertise in complex projects. He attributes his strong track record to listening attentively to clients and learning about their visions and requirements. This approach, he believes, leads to design excellence.
Although he is best known for his work on exterior building envelopes and construction documentation, Luis has experience in a wide range of project types across many sectors. Today, he applies the skills he has gained over recent decades to some of SGA’s largest and multifaceted commissions in life sciences and commercial development.
Luis honed his expertise at Elkus-Manfredi, CDR Maguire, Lavallee Brensinger, and Shepley Bulfinch Richardson and Abbott. During his tenures at these firms, he completed complex projects in life sciences, healthcare, academia, multifamily housing, retail, hospitality, and city planning. He also mastered REVIT and other design software. As Luis explains, his love of technology was one of the reasons he joined SGA. He was especially impressed with the firm’s BIM integrations and its virtual design + construction (VDC) offerings.
Luis earned a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Boston Architectural College. Outside of the office, he pursues many hobbies. One is running – He has completed 12 marathons. He also enjoys landscaping and gardening, and he is currently helping to create a public park in his neighborhood. Additional hobbies include oil painting and cooking. His Boston version of paella, inspired by his childhood in Valencia, Spain, is a favorite of his family, which includes his wife of 35 years and two daughters. No one worries about overeating: His wife is a tennis pro and has turned the rest of the family into avid players.
