Jeff, who has nearly four decades of experience as a practicing architect, specializes in the programming, design, and engineering of research and development facilities for the biomedical, pharmaceutical, academic, and corporate sectors. He joined SGA in 2020 to expand its service offerings in the life science market. SGA also acquired J Talka Consulting, Jeff’s LLC, at that time.
As a subject matter expert, Jeff guides initial design concepts, programming, and development of roadmaps for laboratory planning. In the course of the project, Jeff interacts with leading researchers and scientists to develop tailored solutions to support their science. His project portfolio encompasses some of the world’s most prestigious research facilities and academic institutions. At SGA, he works closely with colleagues from the firm’s architecture, interior design, and academic practices to implement holistic solutions to client needs.
Jeff received a Bachelor of Architecture from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York. A registered architect, he is a member of the AIA; NCARB; the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers; the Scientific Equipment and Furniture Association; the American Biological Safety Association; the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science; and the International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering. He speaks regularly at industry conferences on such issues as facility design, health and safety, and the convergence of workplace and laboratories.
Outside of the office, Jeff spends time with his family, cooks a wide range of cuisines, and plays the drums. A former hockey defenseman, he hopes to get back on the ice in the near future.
