Leveraging science and technology expertise to transform a 22,500 square foot office building into a state-of-the-art R&D facility THAT supports

PMV Pharmaceuticals

mission to “disrupt the course of cancer.”

The site’s extensive redesign featured entirely research space, laboratories, testing facilities, and an upgraded mechanical system. With careful coordination, SGA executed these cutting-edge additions to include the necessary tissue culture labs, bio labs, chemistry labs, vivarium, and a wide range of adjacent ancillary workspace. Integrating the appropriate equipment required early planning to maintain the project’s tight construction timeline.

One of the most important upgrades involved opening up the space; removing numerous walls that had previously divided the office into gridlike sections. Doing so helped to bring light and air into the space while establishing a naturally flowing floor plan that would facilitate interpersonal connection and inspire collaboration.

Due to the necessary mechanical loads on the roof, SGA partnered with a structural engineer to reinforce the existing structure. It was also paramount that the updates blended seamlessly with the building’s existing skeleton. Allowing this space to exceed both the functional and aesthetic standards of a modern laboratory.

Despite the challenging nature of this project, SGA completed the renovation that resulted in the successful marriage of old and new. Allowing high-quality, efficient lab equipment to occupy the space with context and clarity. This project united two of PMV Pharmaceuticals’ existing facilities under one roof in Princeton, New Jersey, creating a cohesive cultural touchpoint for employees.
