L Street Station
On the site of the now defunct Edison power plant, the L Street Station Redevelopment project will revitalize a 15 acre former industrial site at the gateway to South Boston from the Seaport area of Boston. The design centers around the reinvention of the historic brick power plant buildings, dating from the 19th and Early 20th Centuries, to local retail, food market and innovation economy use. The project will completely revitalize the waterfront site and re-integrate the 15 acres of former industrial land into the thriving South Boston neighborhood. Imagining a new thriving mixed use district, nearly 2 million square feet of residential use with over a thousand new residential units is planned, in addition the project will create active ground floor retail uses, places for outdoor dining, bicycle and pedestrian oriented publicly accessible open spaces, and active streetscape.
