Located within the vibrant mixed-use development at 1265 Main in Waltham, Massachusetts, Clarks North America's headquarters transforms a former Polaroid facility into a dynamic workplace that reflects the company's heritage, culture, and commitment to innovation.
Through the adaptive reuse of the existing structure, SGA reimagined the building with a fully branded, centrally located glass "jewel box" entrance that connects all floors and creates a striking arrival experience for employees and visitors.
The 170,000-square-foot facility includes a 50,000-square-foot parking level and 120,000 square feet of modern workspace, complemented by convenient access to on-site retail, dining, and lifestyle amenities within the 1265 Main campus.
The design preserves and enhances the building's industrial character by repurposing its existing framework and introducing expansive industrial-scale windows that maximize daylight and openness.
Designed to inspire collaboration, flexibility, and creativity, the headquarters provides an engaging environment that supports Clarks' evolving workforce while reinforcing its global brand. SGA served as the core and shell architect, leading the building exterior design in collaboration with Stantec, who led the interior architecture.
